Q. What type of student studies at iPT?

iPT Australia attracts students from all walks of life aged from 18 to 60 plus! We appeal to students that want a high quality education from an organisation that works closely with all of the key players in the Sydney fitness industry.


Q. Is this another one of those online courses or do I get to study face to face?

At iPT Australia we feel pretty strongly that Personal Training should be taught Face to Face, using highly experienced tutors that have an extensive background as successful Personal Trainers and relevant Tertiary Qualifications. There is absolutely no substitute for getting face to face with someone who has been in the trenches as a PT and has actually succeeded! Our courses involve a mixture of small group Tutorials (a maximum of 16 students), one on one Personal Tutoring, and loads of supported practical sessions to build experience.


Q. Can I fit my study around work and family?

Absolutely! We specialise in training students who are looking for a change of career or are re-entering the work force after some time away. We offer course that are blended (a mixture of home based training and on campus training). The on campus training can be done 2 nights per week or 2 days per week


Q. What Qualifications will I get?

iPT Australia is a Registered Training Organisation that delivers Nationally Recognised Training on the AQF. We deliver SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness and SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness. A full list of the units covered in these qualifications can be found in the courses section of the website.


Q. What pre-requisites are there for SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness?

To start SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness there are no pre-requisites however you do need to achieve or hold the equivalent of HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid early in the course so you can work with clients as you progress through the practical aspects of the course.

iPT Australia Ltd have arrangements with Training Aid Australia (RTO 91411) to help students attain the unit of competence at a discounted rate.  Students are free to achieve the unit of competence anywhere they wish but most prefer the convenience of Training Aid Australia's on campus provision.  Any costs of obtaining this unit must be paid by the student and are in addition to iPT Australia course fees.


Q. What pre-requisites are there for SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness?

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a current first aid and CPR certificate and have been recognised as competent through a recognised training program or recognition process against the following units of competency: (Note that by completing SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness with iPT Australia Ltd students will meet this pre-requisite requirement)


Provide health screening and fitness orientation


Recognise and apply exercise considerations for specific populations


Instruct fitness programs


Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness programming


Provide healthy eating information


Conduct fitness appraisals


Instruct exercise to older clients


Provide quality service


Q. Is my Qualification recognised in Australia and Internationally?

Students who complete these qualifications are able to register with Fitness Australia which gives you access to ICREPs registration in over 7 countries across 4 continents! See here for more details


Q. Are Graduates of this course sought after by Sydney employers?

One of our key objectives is to produce industry savvy and work place ready graduates. We work very closely with a large group of PT and Club Managers all around Sydney to ensure our Graduates meet the needs of industry and get the very best opportunities possible. Because these PT and Club Managers also helped us design the course they feel confident to employ Graduates we endorse.


Q. Are there any requirements for entry onto a course at iPT Australia?


Our aim is to find and train the very best Students and produce Personal Trainers who will help the Fitness Industry grow.

In order to be considered for a place on one of our courses you will need to be able to meet the following criteria

  1. You will need to be responsive to contact from iPT Australia in a timely and professional manner.
  2. When we meet with you in person prior to enrollment you will be well presented and have well developed personal skills.
  3. You will have a clear reason for wanting to become a Personal Trainer and will be able to share that reason with us.
  4. You will be able to demonstrate a history of your own training and will be comfortable in a gym environment.
  5. You will be able to demonstrate that you have the required commitment and time available to complete the course requirements.

At iPT Australia we will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed choice. One of our highly experienced staff will meet with you at the campus of your choice prior to enrolling and will give you an honest evaluation of what is involved with our courses and how well you might be suited to a career as a personal trainer.


Q. Can I transfer existing credits from another provider or seek Recognition of Prior Learning?

iPT Australia offers both Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning pathways for prospective students.

iPT Australia has selected specific electives as part of this course (see our Courses page for specific details), but RPL can be provided for other Units contained in SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness and SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness.

 Students who believe they may not need to complete the full course (or who have completed SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness through another provider and wish to do only SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness through iPT Australia) can discuss their background and previous training and experience and elect to apply for an assessment only process.

Q. How much will it cost, and how can I pay for it?

Courses at iPT Australia are not the cheapest on offer! The prices of our courses reflect the fact you study in small groups (an average of 15 students),and  get access to a significant amount of one on one personalised tutoring with tutors who are highly experienced and successful Personal Trainers. We have put a huge amount of effort into developing our course in conjunction with some of the leaders of the fitness industry in Australia so that you get a qualification that prepares you to succeed!

Q. What should I do if I have a complaint about my experience at iPT Australia?

We take feedback seriously (both good and bad). We have a very robust system to record and action complaints and assessment appeals. You should initially discuss your complaint/appeal with a relevant staff member. If you are not satisfied with the outcome then;

  1. Discuss the issue with a Senior Tutor or Manager. If it is still not resolved then;
  2. Complete the written ‘Complaint/Assessment Appeals’ form on the iPT Australia website ( This will be submitted directly to the CEO.

A full step by step outline of our complaints and appeals process is detailed in the iPT Student handbook. This is issued to all iPT Australia students when they enrol.
